Immersion Program

The Teach Learn Grow Immersion Program works with a partner high school in Perth to drive its mission of bridging the education gap for students experiencing disadvantage in rural and remote Australia. We recruit and train students at the partner metropolitan high school to provide one-on-one tutoring and mentorship to primary school students at a rural and remote school to improve their educational outcomes and future pathways.

High school participants have the opportunity to travel to a rural or remote area, experience what life is like in small WA communities and learn from the students and community members.

Participants will develop a wide range of skills including cultural awareness, leadership, time management, resilience and tutoring strategies.

“All Saints’ College is very proud to be involved in supporting TLG and the wonderful work they do in closing the educational gap. All Saints’ students visit three schools up in Fitzroy Crossing and engage in a week-long immersion tour where they’re able to develop a rich understanding of remote and rural Australia. Whilst we go to provide support in the classroom, each year, after the trip, I feel we are the ones who receive the most. The gift of learning about Indigenous culture is a rare and powerful opportunity that the students will take with them long after they leave All Saints’. We are very grateful for the support TLG provides in making this trip possible.”

“The energy, the excitement and the pure love for school amongst our students was infectious, and I felt so privileged to be able to spend time with them in the local community and work alongside the phenomenal teachers at Bayulu Remote Community School.”

“I saw the TLG Immersion Program as a great opportunity to go out to rural WA and have a new experience, and mentor a diverse group of students… I went to Bayulu both times and absolutely loved every minute of it. The school was quite small, the students were amazing, and the scenery was incredible.”
